Taghazout is Morocco's surfing capital, a small fishing village on the Atlantic coast north of Agadir where long right-handers peel along volcanic headlands from early autumn through late spring. A 2-hour surf lesson here is the fastest way to feel why surfers have been travelling to this stretch of the Moroccan coast for decades, whether you have never touched a board or you are ready to push past the whitewater and start catching green waves.
Your session starts with a warm-up and a structured briefing on safety, board handling, paddling position, and the pop-up. Your coach tailors the technique work to your level, then leads you straight into the water. Two hours is enough time to lock in one or two clear progression goals, your first standing rides if you are a beginner, or cleaner turns and wave selection if you have already surfed before. Taghazout's sandy-bottom beaches and consistent swell make it one of the friendliest places in North Africa to learn the fundamentals.
The experience includes hotel pickup and drop-off from your accommodation in Taghazout or the Agadir area. Your exact lesson beach is chosen on the day by your coach based on wind, tide, and swell, typically somewhere along the Taghazout–Tamraght stretch such as Panoramas, Banana Beach, or Devil's Rock, so you always surf the safest, most rideable break for your level. A surfboard and wetsuit in your size are supplied on arrival, so you only need to bring swimwear, a towel, and sun protection.
This 2-hour Taghazout surf lesson suits first-time surfers who want to stand up on their first wave, travellers who already have a few sessions behind them, and active couples, friends, or families with older kids looking for a signature Moroccan coastal experience. The activity is rated Hard in terms of physical effort, surfing is demanding on the shoulders and core, so a reasonable level of swimming ability and general fitness is required. Let your coach know your level when you book and they will adapt the lesson.
